My name's Bethany Ticknor, I'm 17, and I fulltime RV with my family. I travel with my parents, and 9 of my 11 siblings. We have a 42 ft. toyhauler 5th wheel RV (400s.f.) and with a lot of love, co-operation, and a gracious God, we are thriving on the road.
We first decided to hit the road after we sold our home in 2009; it had been on the market for over 2 years. We had not taken a long family vacation for awhile, so we packed up our 30ft. travel trailer, shoved the rest of our thing in storage, and headed south. Our original plan was to travel for the winter, then come home to find some land and build another house.

Well... after we had been on the road for a few weeks, we thought of how much fun it would be to travel like that all the time! And now we have been on the road for 3 1/2 years and counting!. We travel south in the winter, and then come home (Montana) for the summer so my Dad and brothers can work their construction company and we are able to see family and friends. We also run 2 firework stands and camp host; then, when it starts getting cold (October-ish) we head back on the road.
At first I was not really excited about living in an RV all the time, and having to leave my two best friends, skiing, horseback riding at my Grandparent's ranch, and most of my relatives. I come from a smallish town; I was born and raised there, and had never left Montana in my life until we sold the house; half of me was excited, the other, a little bit scared. Living in a backwoods town all your life, and then picking up and going
somewhere (lots of somewheres) was so different than the life I was used to, and a little intimidating :)

Now that we have been on the road so long, I have come to love it! I love being able to visit new places and meet new people!
Just recently I was volunteering on a Disaster Relief Team with Samaritan's Purse in Calhoun, GA. A fellow volunteer, after hearing our story, said that I should write a book; what a great idea!! (Thanks Dave!)
So here is my "On-Going Chronicle". I'll try to keep you up to date on all that goes on in our adventures! I am not the best writer so bear with me :)
I hope you enjoy it,
~Bethany

Love your picture! Love your blog! Can't wait to see more posts! Miss you. Olivia
ReplyDeleteAh! That explains it. I've been following your mother's blog and these pictures all look like your family but the address was different. I'm excited to follow you too! I'm dreaming of full-time RVing too and I really admire your family. I'm the oldest of 11 and I want a big family myself (4 kids is a good start.) It's so encouraging to see that both can be done, and to see how your family thrives with it.
